Protest in Kazakhstan over election


In Kazakhstan, the opposition have called for a boycott of the snap presidential election called for April and certain to be won by the incumbent, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Scores of people, many elderly, gathered to protest. They say the vote offers no viable alternative and will end in extension of the 70-year-old’s term. Nazarbayev has been in power since 1989.
