Jewish family massacred

A Palestinian has stabbed to death a family of five Israelis, after breaking into their home in a Jewish settlement on the West Bank.

The victims include a baby, two children and their parents.

The attack took place in the area around Itmar near the Palestinian city of Nablus.

The Israeli army has set up roadblocks around the area in its search for the suspected killer. A senior officer visited the scene to emphasize the importance of catching the suspect.

The murders break a relative lull in West Bank violence, and are likely to complicate attempts to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks which remain frozen over the issue of settlements.
