Gender swap in new film version of The Tempest

Helen Mirren is playing the lead in the new screen adaptation of the classic Shakespeare play, The Tempest.

However, she will not be playing the traditional role of Prospero, who is a man. Instead she will be a woman called Prospera.

Despite this, Shakespeare’s original words have not been changed, so the character is still quite similar.
