Reporting for euronews, freelance journalist Francesca Cicardi said: ‘‘The funerals of six men in Ajdabiya who were killed in the battle for Brega on Wednesday were turned into a major protest where hundreds of men showed their anger, faith and strength.

“After mass prayers, the young rebels armed with machine guns fired into the air and shouted, ‘There is only one god, Allah’. The rebels paid tribute to these soldiers who volunteered to lead the fight in their neighbouring city.

“These deaths don’t appear to have put off the other fighters. The rebels seem more determined than ever to march west. The majority appear ready to die to bring down Gaddafi’s regime. As one rebel said to me earlier, there isn’t a revolution without martyrs.’‘
