Uganda’s opposition leader Kizza Besigye has called for peaceful anti-government protests, and is pushing for a re-run of last week’s disputed presidential election. Electoral officials say Yoweri Museveni won but Besigye says the poll was a sham due to corruption and intimidation. He has refused to recognise any government formed by his rival.
