Peugeot and BMW join forces on hybrids

French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen and Germany’s BMW are getting together to develop components to power hybrid and electric vehicles.

The two are extended their engine building partnership by creating a 50-50 joint venture and also plan to sell to other carmakers.

Standardising key components will cut costs for things like battery packs, power electronics, chargers and software for hybrid systems.
