German train crash kills 10 people

At least 10 people have been killed after a head-on collision between a passenger train and a freight train in Germany.

More than 40 people were injured – 20 of them seriously.

The collision knocked wagons off the tracks near Oschersleben in Saxony Anhalt.

The passenger train was the last service of the night out of Magdebourg heading to Halberstadt.

Some 150 emergency service personnel were soon at the scene. It is not known yet what caused the crash.
