“They’re using live rounds,” said one protester in Cairo. “They say they’re using rubber bullets but look at this. This is a real bullet.”
As the demonstrations and unrest continue in Egypt, the tolls of dead and wounded are mounting. It’s impossible to get any accurate figures, but the Reuters news agency’s latest estimate is at least 74 dead and thousands wounded.
Another protester said: “They’re using rubber bullets but they’re aiming for your face or your head, not other parts of the body. All the injured have head wounds.”
One hospital in Cairo reported receiving 30 bodies yesterday, two of them children aged just four and seven. Al Jazeera TV reported at least 95 have died since the demonstrations began.
