Leading German film producer and screenwriter Bernd Eichinger has died suddenly aged 61. Starting with “Christiane F” in 1982, his hits included “The Neverending Story”, “The Name of the Rose” and “Perfume”. He was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay for 2004’s “Downfall”. He died of a heart attack while dining with his family.
