Authorities in China are bracing themselves for the massive Spring Festival migration.
The number of people travelling home ahead of Chinese New Year events that start on February the 3rd is expected to be up on last year.
That means almost a quarter of a billion people on the move in the coming weeks.
One railway official said: “Every year the volume of passengers travelling increases. But this year we are expecting 230 million people, ten percent more than last year’s estimated figures.”
230 million is equivalent to the entire population of Indonesia flooding China’s transport hub.
Ticket agencies are reporting long queues, with people worried they might not be able to find a way to return home to their families.
