The flight of Ben Ali is not enough, shouted protesters in the Tunisian capital as security forces attempted to prevent a demonstration by hundreds of people calling for the ruling party to also relinquish power.
Officers used water cannon, teargas and fired shots into the air.
The demonstrators said it is not enough that President Ben Ali has fled to Saudi Arabia; they also want a complete clean-out of ruling party ministers.
