The stained glass windows of ancient medieval churches has provided inspiration for a team of space experts looking to capture the true colours of Mars.

Looking ahead to the next ExoMars Mission in 2018, scientists in Wales have devised tiny glass discs that will be used to correct the colour of pictures altered by ultra-violet radiation on Mars.
