A bomb in Nigeria’s capital Abuja has killed at least four people. Earlier reports had put the number of dead much higher.

More than a dozen others were also injured after the explosion ripped through a crowded market place. It is thought many people had gathered to celebrate the New Year.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has blamed an Islamist group that claimed responsibility for last week’s bombing in the city of Jos, which killed at least 80 people.
