Two wheels are as good as four when it comes to getting to the capital so see your new president sworn in.

So motorbikes were an ideal form of transport for a group of wellwishers from the northern state of Ceara to travel to Brasilia for Dilma Rousseff’s inauguration.

She is taking over the reins of power today from her wildly popular mentor, President Lula da Silva.

It is a moment too good to miss for those keen to see history in the making.

“I came here mainly because Dilma is a woman. I hope she will be a good president, especially for women,” said one woman member of the bikers’ group.

The National Congress in Brasilia is the focus of a huge security operation, with the likes of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attending the inauguration ceremonies.
