Australia lights up the sky for 2012 The world has begun welcoming in 2011.
As always, Australians were among the first to celebrate, with 1.5 million people treated to a spectacular feast of colour at Sydney Harbour.
Not to be outdone, Hong Kong hosted a breathtaking fireworks display as did Taipei.
And, as New York gears up for its annual party in Times Sqaure, organisers tested the iconic New Year’s Eve Ball.
Soon, all over the world, 2010 will be history…
