Iraqi Christians have been threatened with further deadly attacks after a series of bombings in Baghdad on Thursday night killed two people.

At least 16 others were wounded in the blasts on Christian homes which are being blamed on an al Qaeda-linked faction.

An Interior Ministry source and police sources said up to 10 explosions targeted Christians.

Two other explosive devices were defused.

In the worst attack, two people were killed in a blast in the Ghadir district of eastern Baghdad.

The blasts occurred after al Qaeda-linked militants threatened to step up attacks on Iraqi Christians during the Christmas period.

It comes two months after 52 people were killed when gunmen stormed a Syrian Catholic cathedral in Baghdad.
