He is a four star general poised to take command of a nuclear armed nation of 24 million people. Kim Jong-un is reportedly yet to enter his thirtieth year and has just, ‘starred’ in a documentary on North Korea’s state television.

It is further evidence, reports suggest, that he has been chosen to succeed his father, Kim Jong-il, as his country’s leader.

The documentary – with pictures of the father and son taking part in ceremonies to mark the 65th anniversary of the Workers Party – was designed, believe outside experts, to burnish his image as the next leader.

How much will the world get to know about Kim Jong-un? Has he had plastic surgery to look like his grandfather, as some reports suggest?

Does the basketball-loving third son suffer the same health problems as his father, and how will his youth and inexperience affect his potential leadership?

As the world watches the growing tension between North and South Korea, some answers could become clearer in the coming months.
