Hon Hai to invest €1 bln in Hitachi

Taiwanese electronics giant Hon Hai reportedly intends to buy a majority stake in the Japanese company, Hitachi Displays for around one billion euros.

The deal would create the world’s biggest manufacturer of small and medium sized LCD screens.

Hon Hai is currently one of the biggest manufacturers of Apple’s Iphones and Ipads.

The new venture will use the funds to build a new factory in Japan and would mean Hitachi’s stake would fall from 75 to 30 percent.
