Snow and Heathrow backlog affects Europe

world news

| |

The winter weather has also caused delays throughout Europe.

The freezing conditions meant a quarter of flights were cancelled at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.

Added to that was the backlog effect from Heathrow.

Problems elsewhere led to hundreds of flights being cancelled at Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s biggest.

The terminals were packed with stranded travellers and attempts were made to entertain them.

Chocolate and even beds were provided.

The forecasters say this is freak weather, with temperatures ten degrees less than average for the time of year.

The bad news is they say this week there is more to come.
