As 2010 draws to a close, repeatedly called a year of crisis, two Germans, two devoted Europeans, look forward to the crisis exit prospects in 2011. Martin Schulz heads the group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.

Oscar-winning film director Volker Schlöndorff poses questions. He has never been a politician but has always been politically aware.

The occasion was the Europe Book Prize in Brussels where Schlöndorff headed the jury and Schulz, a former bookshop owner, hosted the event with the Socialists group.
