Afghan civilians killed in NATO airstrike

Seven civilians have been killed by a NATO airstrike in the eastern Afghan province of Paktia.

The victims had reportedly been building a road and were in a tent when the attack was launched. A spokesman for the NATO-led ISAF force said an investigation was being carried out.

Also on Saturday, at least six people were said to have been injured in a car-bombing near a police station in Kandahar City.

Meanwhile the Taliban have claimed responsibility for a roadside bomb attack that killed 15 civilians in Helmand province yesterday.
