Far from being released as some reports had suggested, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is still in custody.

Iran’s English-language Press TV says new photos of the woman originally sentenced to death by stoning for adultery were taken at her home, claiming they were part of a reconstruction of her husband’s murder. Her son, also imprisoned, was there too.

In a new TV documentary Ashtiani reportedly describes the killing of her husband, for which she could be hanged.

Reports that she had been released brought joy to human rights campaigners, outraged when her sentence came to light earlier this year.

But the reports were wrong. Press TV described them as “a vast publicity campaign by western media”.

The reports were based on information relayed to the International Committee Against Stoning. It has accused Press TV of acting as if it was Iran’s “intelligence service”.
