A young suicide bomber has blown himself up next to a minibus in northwest Pakistan, killing at least 17 people.
Witnesses say the bus, filled with passengers, was about to leave a stop in Kohat when a teenager stood near the door and triggered the explosion.
More than 30 people were hurt and shops destroyed.
According to the local police chief, the target was a tribal leader opposed to Pakistan’s Taliban whose stronghold is in the same region, near the Afghan border.
A campaign of suicide bombings continues despite military offensives by Pakistan’s US-backed government.
