Japanese carmaker Toyota is reportedly cutting its production plans for next year by around 200,000 vehicles amid sluggish demand.

Tokyo newspaper Asahi Shimbun says that will mean 2011 will be the third year in a row that the company produces less than eight million units. Toyota faces a slide in sales in Japan where government incentives were stopped in September. US sales have also been slow in recent months.

In November, Toyota was the only major brand to report a drop in the number of units sold in the United States.
