Iran’s senior nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili has
arrived in Geneva for the first talks with key world powers about Tehran’s nuclear plans for more than a year.
He was met by the EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council are also there, along with Germany.
Iran comes buoyed up by the news that it
has produced its own raw uranium for the first time – thereby allowing Tehran to sidestep four rounds of UN sanctions.
Iran maintains it wants to develop nuclear energy. But many of the world’s powers worry that it is trying to produce weapons.
