Authorities in Sweden have issued a fresh arrest warrant for WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange saying previous technical difficulties hindering his detention had been overcome.

Wanted by both Swedish police and Interpol for alleged sex crimes, earlier Sweden’s highest court rejected an appeal by the 39 year-old Australian to have the charges dropped. Assange recently went to ground after a mass of US diplomatic cables were leaked.

The British daily, The Independent, reported Assange flew to Britain in October, saying police know his whereabouts. The newspaper believes him to be somewhere in the South East of the country.

UK authorities have so far declined to comment on the claims.
