Ivory Coast's Ouattara wins presidential poll

Ivory Coast’s electoral commission has declared Alassane Ouattara the victor of the West African states disputed presidential election.

The run-off result gave him just over 54 percent of the vote, compared to his rival, President Laurent Gbagbo 46 percent.

However, the vote has been marred by controversy.

Last night Ivorian security forces killed four people at Ouattara’s office. An overnight deadline for the release of the results also passed with no publication.
