William and Kate set date for royal wedding

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince William will marry Kate Middleton on April 29th 2011. The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, with the royal family and the Middletons sharing the cost.

However, UK taxpayers will be fitting the bill for security. Taxpayers may not mind so much, after the government confirmed that April 29th, which is a Friday, will be a Bank Holiday, with most people getting the day off work.

The couple, who have been dating for nine years, met at St Andrews University in Scotland, where they both studied history of art.
