China acts to stem rising inflation


China has taken measures to quell rising inflation, notably assuring markets ample grain supplies and excess industrial capacity should take the steam out of price pressures.

Road tolls will be scrapped from next month and local authorities will be bound to reduce energy and transport prices for fertiliser, and ensure coal and oil supplies. However analysts concur administrative price controls are likely in the near future.
