North Korea’s nuclear programme may have developed dramatically.

A huge new uranium enrichment plant has reportedly been shown to a US scientist.

The news could make dealing with Pyongyang’s leadership more difficult for Washington, potentially upping the ante should stalled aid-for- disarmament talks resume.

According to the New York Times, the visiting nuclear scientist was “stunned” by the sophistication of the facility. It says he saw “hundreds and hundreds” of centrifuges and was told by the North Koreans that 2,000 were operating.
