Is it a sign of the tough economic times we are living in?
Possibly, but the budget debate in Argentina’s parliament took a turn for the worse when MP Graciela Camano lost it, quite literally. She smacked an opposition colleague, Carlos Kunkel, in the mouth during the heated parliamentary session.
Afterwards, she accused him of making disparaging remarks about her husband, a union leader: ‘‘I am fed up with Mr. Kunkel. He accuses me because of being someone’s wife. I don’t have any problem being someone’s wife. I am not questioning Mr. Kunkel’s personal life. I am questioning his politics,’‘ Camano said.
Some called on her to resign, but Kunkel, the man on the receiving end, appeared to take the smack in the face in his stride.
