Probe into deadly Indian building collapse

The Indian government has ordered an investigation after a building collapse that killed at least 60 people.

About 80 others were seriously injured in the tragedy in New Delhi.

Rescuers are still searching for any more survivors in the ruins of the five-storey residential building.

“I have no information about my husband and three children,” said one woman. “All four of them were in the apartment and I had gone to work.”

Authorities are blaming the building’s faulty construction, saying the basement was waterlogged for days after heavy rain.

Experts say many Indian buildings do not conform to safety regulations.
