68 feared dead in Cuban plane crash

It is feared at least 68 people have perished after the plane they were on crashed in central Cuba.

The communist island’s state run media said there appeared to be no survivors.

The aircraft, operated by state-owned Aero Caribbean airlines was flying from Santiago de Cuba en route to Havana when it reportedly went down.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a massive ball of flames in the middle of mountain near the town of Guasimal in the centrally located Sancti Spiritus province.

While exact numbers are still unclear its thought 40 Cubans and 28 foreigners were on board.
