Kosovo to hold early elections in December

world news

Kosovo is set for early elections next month following the collapse of the grand coalition that declared independence from Serbia.

The result of the no-confidence vote will delay the start of the European Union sponsored talks with Serbia. But Kosovo’s prime minister praised the outcome.

“To me this decision is a responsible one which will mark a new beginning for the country of Kosovo and its citizens.  I will fufill my obligations in government and resign,” said Hashim Thaci.

The Balkan country’s political turmoil follows the resignation of the president after a court ruled he could not be a party leader and head of state.
