At least 36 people are reported to have been killed in a series of apparently co-ordinated explosions in Baghdad.
More than 10 car bombs and roadside devices went off in several different areas of the Iraqi capital.
Well over 300 people have been injured, according to the government.
The bombs targeted mainly Shi’ite areas of the city.
Many went off near busy cafes and restaurants.
It is the third major assault in Iraq since Friday, and comes two days after Al Qaida militants caused a bloodbath in a Christian church.
There have long been fears that insurgents might exploit a political vacuum to reignite sectarian war.
