Hurricane Tomas heads to Haiti

world news

If a cholera outbreak and fears of another earthquake weren’t enough, Hurricane Tomas appears Haiti bound.

Even though, the tropical storm has weakened to a category one, it continues to lash the eastern Caribbean.

In Barbados owners desperately tried to shore up their boats as high tides and heavy rain swept the island.

Tomas, the 12th hurricane in a very active Atlantic season, is said to be packing sustained winds of around 150 kilometres per hour as it moves westward.

Currently west of St Lucia, Tomas is on track to hit the south of the Dominican Republic and Haiti by Tuesday.
