More than 14 people have been shot dead as they prepared to play a football match in Honduras.

Authorities say gunmen approached the group and opened fire at close range with assault rifles.

The shootings happened in San Pedro Sula in the north of the country.

The motive for the murders is unknown, but police believe it bears all the hallmarks of a gangland revenge killing.
