Spine-chilling cakes on sale in UK for Halloween

It is no ordinary cake shop, with staff dressed as zombies.

But with Halloween on the horizon, blood-curdling confectionary could catch on. Hence an adult-only shop selling edible horrors in London.

Open in the run-up to the scary day on Sunday, its disgusting delights include cakes in the form of mutilated body parts and hanging guts crafted from marzipan.

“Cakes are for children. Cakes are pretty,” said the mastermind of the venture, Emma Thomas, who calls herself “Miss Cakehead”.
“But actually, adults want cakes that are a bit dirty and a bit strange and a bit alarming. So we wanted to give the public something that was genuinely completely different from what they had had before,” added Thomas, who heads the “Mad Artists’ Tea Party” experimental cake collective.

Yet don’t be misled. The stomach-churning creations can all be eaten and are said to be delicious.

So forget fairy cakes and icing buns. Anyone for an eyeball?
