President Cristina attends wake for dead husband

Bereaved Argentine President Cristina Fernandez has attended the wake of her husband Nestor Kirchner.

It’s her first public appearance since her husband’s death from a heart attack on Wednesday.

Leaders from the region are in Buenos Aires to pay their respects to a man who led Argentina from 2003 to 2007.

As well as the great and good thousands of ordinary Argentinians filed into the presidential palace to bid farewell to their former president.

He had been suffering with his health in recent times and underwent heart surgery last month, still his death came as a great shock to many in Argentina.

Three days of national mourning have been announced.

He will be laid to rest over the weekend.
