Argentina’s Cristina Fernandez has led mourning for her husband and predecessor as president, in her first public appearance since his sudden death.

Nestor Kirchner died from a heart attack on Wednesday at the age of 60.

Hundreds have filed into the presidential palace to pay their last respects. Latin American political leaders are also arriving in Buenos Aires.

After lying in state for two days, Kirchner’s body will be taken back to his home region in the south of Argentina.

Some mourners shouted patriotic and pro-Kirchner slogans as they passed the coffin of the late ex-president who was one of his wife’s closest advisers.
