Former Argentine leader Kirchner dies

The former president of Argentina, Nestor Kirchner, has died. Husband of the current president, Cristina Fernandez, he led the country from 2003 till 2007.

Doctors say Kirchner died of a heart attack. He was 60 and had reportedly undergone surgery for heart problems last month.

He took power as Argentina was suffering from a deep economic crisis, and negotiated a deal with the IMF to cancel the country’s debt.
