World Cup Octopus dies

It’s a sad day in the world of football…

Paul the octopus, who ‘predicted’ the outcome of eight matches at last summers World Cup, has died at an aquarium in Germany at the age of two-and-a-half years old.

The talented tenticuled mollusc made his name by successfully choosing a mussel from one of two boxes bearing the flags of competing nations.

Such was his success world-wide Paul was made an honorary citizen of a Spanish village before being made an ambassador for England’s 2018 World Cup bid.

A memorial is to be set up at the aquarium in his memory.
