Andre Geim and Konstantin have won the Nobel prize for Physics thanks to a simple roll of tape and some lead.

The two scientists painstakingly divided splinters of graphite until they encountered graphene, the finest crystal in the world.

Graphene possesses certain technical qualities never seen before. Totally transparent, it conducts heat and electricity superbly, but is also ultra-stiff, up to 200 times harder than steel.
