ECB’s Stark hints over interest rate

Another interest rate hike by the European Central Bank could be on the cards earlier than predicted, according to executive board member Juergen Stark.

Bundesbank president Axel Weber last week openly criticised the ECB’s bond-buying programme.

Stark has also called for a halt in bond purchases to avoid market distortion, but he pressed for public unity and more private discussion among ECB council members.
