Rumours of Chilean miners book deal

Chile’s 33 freed miners have given only sketchy details about the 69 days they spent trapped in the bowels of the earth.

Speculation is growing that they are saving their story for a book.

Publishing and broadcasting deals are expected to follow, which could account for the men’s reluctance to speak out.

Miner José Henriquez later returned to Camp Hope, to try to come to terms with what has happened and see for himself the place where his family waited for news of his rescue.

“It is a joy to be free. I am so happy to be back in this place so I can thank the Lord I am with my family again. I wanted to see this place and see where they spent so long waiting for me,” he told reporters.

Many of the group are themselves planning to return to the San Jose mine on Sunday, for a ceremony giving thanks for the successful conclusion to their ordeal.
