Legal challenge to Eurostar decision?


France’s Alstom has said it may go to court to block a decision by Eurostar to buy 10 new trains from German company Siemens.

Alstom’s Chief Executive Patrick Kron said in a newspaper interview that they are considering legal action over what he called a “totally incomprehensible” decision.

Alstom maintains that Siemens rolling stock – which has engines built into the carriages, rather than in separate trains at the front and back of the train – do not comply with Channel tunnel safety rules.
