US grenade may have killed British aid worker

Kidnapped British aid worker Linda Norgrove may have been killed by US forces as they attempted
to rescue her from her captors in Afghanistan.

Originally it was reported that she died when one of her kidnappers detonated a suicide vest.

British Prime Minister David Cameron says a probe into her death is underway:
“Linda could have died as a result of a grenade detonated by the task force during the assault. However, this is not certain and a full US-UK investigation has been launched.

From the family home on the Isle of Lewis, in Scotland, Linda Norgrove’s father said he would save making a statement until a later date.

Tribal elders negotiating her freedom had asked Nato not to get involved, to give them more time to secure her release.

The aid worker was seized in the province of Kunar on the 26th of September.
