Strike threatens French oil refineries

Four refineries in southern France could close from this weekend after workers at a key oil port voted to continue their strike for a 12th day blockading dozens of tankers.

A port spokeswoman said strikers at Fos-sur-mere had decided to stay out and there are no plans for settlement talks before the weekend.

The strikers want job guarantees as the port is reorganised; they are also protesting against government pension reform.
