They are used to big launches at the Frankfurt Book Fair, but this one is BIG!
The biggest Atlas in the world measures two-by-three-metres and costs 70,000 euros – just 31 are being printed.
Publisher Gordon Cheers said it is about creating a legacy, something that will last even in our digital age.
Asked why it is so big, he said: “We have so much mapping, so much detail that we had to do a book as large as this to do justice to that material.”
This year the fair’s focus is on digital editions, as publishers try to entice a new generation of readers with the latest multimedia products.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the largest such event in the world and runs until Sunday.
