Protesters in the German city of Stuttgart are determined to continue their Monday night protests against a seven billion euro project to convert the city’s train terminus into an underground through station.
Authorities say the plan is to cut travel time to the airport and the cities of Ulm and Munich.
Demonstrators claim 50,000 turned out Monday despite recent clashes with police.
“I was there last Thursday when the violence broke out, they just beat us up. I don’t know what we are supposed to discuss now,” said one protestor.
Many thousands from all walks of life have signed up to the protest against the “Stuttgart 21” project on Facebook.
Those against the plan see it as a complete waste of money
Stuttgart itself will undergo a dramatic re-landscaping of the city centre if the building work goes ahead.
